BC WRITERS, PUBLISHERS RECEIVE 13 GG NOMINATIONS

OTTAWA – B.C. publishers, authors and illustrators are in the running for a range 2009 Governor General’s Literary Awards.

Of thirty-five books nominated for the English-language version of the prestigious award, ten are written by BC authors and nine are published by BC publishers. Another three British Columbians were nominated for French-language awards. Most of the works also received some level of funding from the BC Arts Council.

The Governor General's Literary Awards are given annually to the best English-language and the best French-language books in each of the seven categories of Fiction, Non-fiction, Poetry, Drama, Children's Literature (text), Children's Literature (illustration) and Translation (from French to English and English to French).
