Staffing Update

Over the past number of months, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, in consultation with the Chair and Vice Chair of the BC Arts Council, has been working to restructure the Arts and Culture Division to better support the arts and culture sector and Ministry priorities.

Going forward, the work of the Division will now be supported by two separate Branches: the BC Arts Council Secretariat Branch, led by Executive Director, Allison Bottomley and the Cultural, Strategic, and Corporate Priorities Branch, led by Executive Director, Sarah Patterson.

“The BC Arts Council is delighted to share news of the confirmation of Allison Bottomley as Executive Director for the BC Arts Council Secretariat. Over the past eight months, as Acting Executive Director, Allison has demonstrated leadership and careful stewardship to ensure the priority work of the BC Arts Council and broader Ministry has advanced. This builds on the work she has led with the BC Arts Council on behalf of the sector over the past number of years, including major equity, diversity and inclusion shifts; the development and implementation of the current Extending Foundations action plan; an all-new governance handbook for Council foregrounding engagement and relationships in its advisory role; and robustly guiding significant pandemic responses. We look forward to working with her, as well to opportunities for continued collaboration with Sarah Patterson and her team, in supporting arts and culture across the province.”
